I know! It's conceptually really cool, but I don't think GRRM worked out the practical implications at all. I don't know enough about planetary mechanics to know if it's possible (maybe something like Anne McCaffrey's explanation of the irregular Threadfall on Pern?) but it should influence life, farming, etc a lot more than it actually seems to.

Even stuff like trees: are they all evergreen? If not, what about autumn? Does it happen quickly and then they just stay leafless for 20 years? Or stay red-leafed for years? There should be poetry about stuff like that.
