I wonder if swimming would work for you? I keep getting recommended it due to joint problems (however, mine don't involve hypermobility - that is, mine actually are hypermobile, but not to a problematic degree). Sadly, I do not enjoy swimming.

I also like the whole shebang - really, I like the training more than the event, so I was quite content endlessly training with no goal beyond "improve skills." If I ever get better enough for this to make any sense at all, I expect to take on "restore health/strength to [whatever level is possible]" as my new training program and quite happily start doing stuff like walking around my block five times. Then six times... Then seven...

(I can't do anything like that now because I not only can't make progress, but whatever thing I start with gets harder and harder as time passes until it becomes impossible and then I have to stop. Every now and then I get doctors telling me to exercise to improve my health. Uh-huh. That one is going to have to go the other way around.)
