To be clear, Brown wasn't saying she and her family were perfect angels. She was saying that their flaws were the sort of flaws all families have, and that she didn't think she caused the anorexia.

You could definitely be right that in fact, this specific family really was cold, hyper-controlling, etc, and they absolutely were the cause. But I was interested by the fact that if a hypothetical mother really didn't cause their child's mental illness, she would still get blamed for it.
