Take a walk with me around my parents' property. It was sunny but chilly. The smooth copper-colored shrubs are manzanita; the wood is satiny, and the bark skims off in brittle scrolls like old parchment.
The first picture is actually of my parents' place in Santa Barbara, now sold and uploaded by accident. Oops. I'll keep it up because it's pretty.
And then we drove into town for dinner. I am wearing a silk Betsey Johnson dress, acquired on sale, and very red sandals from Paris. That's my step-mom with a bourbon and blackberry, and me with a cosmopolitan.
