Me too, but for opposite reasons.

I've really loved all the quasi-military stuff I've been involved in... unless I either stopped believing in the cause or felt that everyone above me was a bunch of idiots and not serving the cause or allowing me to serve it. So I think if I'd enlisted for a specific cause that I continued to believe was a worthwhile one, I would be an excellent soldier. (Back when I physically could, etc.) Not a pilot or a sniper or anything requiring video game skills, but if my eyesight didn't disqualify me, I think I'd be an excellent combat medic. I already know I can do emergency medicine and don't have a problem with walking into active shooter situations, so that doesn't seem like a big stretch.

If a cause wasn't involved, I don't think I'd even make it through boot camp due to issues with pointless orders, thinking I could do better than my CO, etc. (If I believed in a cause, I'd suck it up.) If I made it in and then lost faith, uh-oh. I could well end up serving time with Chelsea Manning. Or I could end up stocking vending machines on an aircraft carrier and hate my life.
