I think of them as a version of category one. I'm actually more to that side - most of my precautions are pretty low-effort. It's the difference between taking one minute to leave a note vs. not, or thinking, "Where can I park that's outside of the disaster zone?" and then parking there vs. taking the first space you see.

ETA: I don't think caution removes the good parts of life, at all. I'm cautious that way myself. I meant that since we don't actually get a chance to edit our lives to just remove the bad parts, what I and Ralston, at least, ended up contemplating was whether we'd have chosen everything as it actually happened, vs. some other life that had a totally different set of good and bad outcomes.
