I can't get the power turned on till the landlord returns to turn on the breakers and my movers were both slow, more expensive than I had estimated die to the slowness, and completely covered in gang and jail tattoos, which makes me think I should probably get a burglar alarm (of course, they know I have nothing worth stealing since I moved it, and the gang tattoos suggest they were in prison for gang activities, but then again gang membership doesn't exclude rape or housebreaking), and I'm on wireless since the phone and net and TV don't get turned on till tomorrow, and I don't yet have a bed or living room furniture, and I still have to return on Saturday at 7:00 am to await the Salvation Army pick-up of stray give-away furniture and clean the damn place, and after the fifth time one of the convict movers used the bathroom I was totally grossed out to realize that I had not yet put in any toilet paper... but at least I'm here.

I hope I've stuck around long enough that I can go to the cafe and eat something without the cats seizing upon the opportunity to express how pissed off they are at me for moving them by pissing on something. Or puking. I was woken up this morning by a cat puking about four inches from my head. At least it wasn't inside a suitcase.

Oh, what a glorious move. Not.

Sure hope all settles out better.

Were it not across the country, I would ask you if any of your convict-movers matched the description of [relative]. Who I think is genuinely trying to reform, but I realize that's not obvious when moving is underway.

Moving sucks. I hope it gets better soon.

Welcome to your new home. May it be a shelter for your mind, heart, and body, and may it house light for when you're in darkness.

And at least if you're burgled, you know who to sic the police on.

Welcome home. I'm sorry about the scary, slow movers, but you know what they say about dress rehearsals. Maybe that applies to moves too?

When I first moved down here, that first night I slept on the floor of a completely empty apartment (I didn't even have a sleeping bag). Actually, I don't think I actually slept (note to self, floors are not comfortable :P). If you decide you need place to crash tonight, please let me know---I'm more than happy to put you up.

Or ON your head.
