Happy New Year!

This has been such a horrible year, globally speaking, that any other would require more than one natural or manmade disaster of earthshaking proportions to be worse. So next year is likely to be better.

When I was in high school, I thought that I had the psychic power to put an ill wish or a good wish on a person. I had a certain amount of evidence backing that, most impressively when I wished that Brenda Milton (who mocked me in the halls) would break a bone while she was on a ski trip, and when she returned with her hand in a cast and a camera which she put on her desk, I wished she'd break the camera too and it fell off the desk and the lens broke.

I haven't tried that in many years, but hey, maybe it still works. With that in mind, I'm going to undertake a little experiment in psychic powers. We can all check back this time next year and see how many of my wishes came true.

So to all you folk reading this, I wish that for you personally, next year will be better than this one; that those of you looking for agents get one as good as mine (DeFiore, SuperAgent!); that those of you looking for a publisher find one; that those of you whose books will hit the shelves rejoice in massive sales, fawning reviews, and happy readers; that those of you with children have plenty of happy times with them and also more time for yourselves; that those of you looking for relationships get a good one; that those of you looking for sex get some; that finances and health improve, the heat gets turned on, jobs are found or kept, jellies jell, families and pets stay healthy, and much good reading, writing, and viewing is had by all.

More specifically, I wish that [livejournal.com profile] mrissa, [livejournal.com profile] oracne, and Thrud sell a book, that [livejournal.com profile] willshetterly, Emma, [livejournal.com profile] pameladean, [livejournal.com profile] pegkerr, [livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson [livejournal.com profile] jonquil, [livejournal.com profile] canandagirl, [livejournal.com profile] branna, and [livejournal.com profile] yhlee finish one (because I want to read them!), that [livejournal.com profile] truepenny's, [livejournal.com profile] matociquala's, [livejournal.com profile] naominovik's, [livejournal.com profile] papersky's, [livejournal.com profile] sartorias's, [livejournal.com profile] aireon's, [livejournal.com profile] misia's, and [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's books are smash hits, that [livejournal.com profile] telophase sells a manga, that [livejournal.com profile] coffee_and_ink, [livejournal.com profile] boniblithe, [livejournal.com profile] msagara, [livejournal.com profile] redredshoes, [livejournal.com profile] mistressrenet, [livejournal.com profile] lnhammer, [livejournal.com profile] desayunoencama, and [livejournal.com profile] janni have watermark-level writing years in terms of quality, quantity, and profitability, that [livejournal.com profile] tweedkitten, [livejournal.com profile] majinkarp, and [livejournal.com profile] wordsofastory have good luck with grad school, that [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna is happy in America, that [livejournal.com profile] rushthatspeaks's health improves and that she gets to travel for fun, that [livejournal.com profile] vladimirsever gets to visit [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda, that [livejournal.com profile] copperwise excels both in poetry and in something new which she's never tried before but will find that she loves, that [livejournal.com profile] sdn has a great year in publishing and no more dental trauma, that [livejournal.com profile] yhlee has a particularly happy and stress-free year (I know, that's two wishes, but that's OK) and that everyone who I haven't mentioned specifically (some of you because my particular wishes for you involve things you've only spoken of privately) has a great year, and also forgives me for not mentioning them specifically.
