That was pretty much my takeaway from King of the Cats--it made zero sense without the footnotes, but with footnotes I was really invested in the king-choosing lioness woman and her decision.
Mystery Date is one of my favorite arcs, second to Talisman; I liked Vary a lot.
... And oooh, Third World is out in paperback! (I still want to know how Torch ends--that's the storyline that seems to follow up on Voice, and its beginning was on the author's website a while back--but Third World sounds cool too. And a new volume is exciting period, really.)
