A giant snow storm is incoming. If you don't hear from me when you expect to starting tomorrow, I'm fine but have lost internet access.

Crestline is expecting 8 - 12 inches of snow! I have obtained plenty of wood and my generators are charged, so I will be quite cozy. My gas oven has electrical components so it doesn't work (even the burners) in a power outage, but I can cook on the woodburning stove in a pinch.

I do need to clean out the chicken coop and pile up new bedding today so they'll be cozy, get all the wood out of my car and park the car on the street so it doesn't get stranded, etc. In between clients, as I see them on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. (Wednesday this week being somewhat doubtful.)

I send massive good vibes for you getting through the storm all right. I hope you don't lose power.

BTW, will you be going to Bouchercon this year? I'm going and I wondered. It was nice meeting you at the last one.

Take care of yourself, and hopefully I'll see in you San Diego later this year!

And it sounds like a good time to read Far North? ;)

Woot!

Envying you your snow. I finally live in a place where I was okay with large amounts of snow, and we got like 2 inches a couple times all winter, and don't seem likely to get much more!

Okay, no, it's not just me, look at this absurdity:

And all our snow this winter has melted in 48 hours.

But I moved from LA to Boston just in time for 2015, and I wasn't ready!

Best of luck with the snow and I hope you will be safe and have continued internet and power throughout the storm!

Enjoy! We are also expecting a massive quantity of snow, so much that St. Paul announced this morning they were cancelling school for the rest of the week. (Well, they're doing "online learning days" on Wednesday/Thursday, a straight up snow day Friday.) I just looked out the window and it's started falling.

Have a lovely time! I am wishing we had a generator or six. Minneapolis is allegedly going to get a Category 5 event; the main concern with this is very high winds, and I hope the power doesn't go out. However, I'm sure they'll get to it sooner than the equivalent "they" would get to yours.

I'm trying to be excited, but we have already had a winter's worth of snow. My one pleasure in this storm is that it might actually wipe out the drought throughout the state, which the previous record snowfall did not do.

So not gasoline powered? I did look it up, but it's bewilderingly versatile. I'll find a less confusing description later.

Enjoy your snow! If you're going to have it, you might as well have a decent amount of it.

You are clearly well prepared! Sounds like a big storm in the US, that's for sure. (Some of it in Canada, just not to the same degree.)

Do you have a ham radio license? I think you'd find it useful in your area.

There's no Morse requirement, although there are still bands set aside for Morse and it's useful, and the exams are not difficult if you're good at studying.
