I'm home. It's cold. My apartment still has no heat. I'm giving notice in a week, but meanwhile contemplating staying at Halle's place. I'm giving notice at the end of the week.

Hey, you're giving notice in a week. That should provide much cheer! (But, of course, it doesn't. You took on your apartment thinking it would be true love, but love failed, and for all you know that there's a better, stronger, handsomer, brighter, more sympathetic and less confused apartment waiting for you, somewhere out there, still, you put time into this apartment, you tried to make this apartment work, you know what this apartment could have been if only it had been willing to work as hard as you-- Be sad for the impending loss of this apartment. But while you're being sad, remember that you should be sorriest for it: it's losing you.)

Oh, also, you're a damn fine writer with a book coming out. Now quit chasing the shadow pleasures of Hollywood and focus on the world of books. I seem to remember someone had a damn fine start on a damn fine fantasy a few years back.
