We have to be allowed to not be strong. In normal circumstances, it's often socially acceptable to be angry and sad and have a meltdown over everyday annoyances, and it's understood that it's just part of being human. But get seriously sick, and you're not allowed to have a meltdown over anything, not even the destruction of your life and the possibility of your death. And God forbid you express any anger. If you do, you've broken the rules, and deserve not sympathy, but scolding and blame that backwashes through time to accuse you of willfully causing your own sickness and even death.

I have encountered a lot of fucked-up dynamics in my time, but this takes the cake.
