Yeah, I remember watching the SAR teams get called out at St John's, and there were something like twenty students from our school, and then other volunteers, and the State Police had already been called, and everyone had to go out with their kits and ropes and litters and radios &c &c. And that would happen REGULARLY. Most of the time it was tourists who just didn't know any better and would go up for a day hike wearing no jacket because it's very sunny in NM! and then the sun would go behind the mountains, and it would maybe rain, and they'd get lost and be in the dark and this would be fairly close to civilization -- much closer than arm guy -- but they were still in danger and isolated and needed help.
