I feel like there must be good books about religion in space but I can't think of any offhand. I do really like this fanfic inspired by Tiptree's "And I Awoke and Found Me Here on this Cold Hillside, The Locust, which is about medieval Jesuits encountering sexy aliens. It's tagged "Alien Sex, Localized Apocalypses, Early Modern Xeno, Size Difference, Epistolary, 16th Century CE,Plague, and has one of my favorite comments of all time, "It feels like I found it in an anthology I am somehow not old enough to be reading."
