The book "Rose Under Fire" (which is a companion novel to "Code Name Verity" -- if you haven't read both of these, you should remedy that ASAP, they are SO GOOD) focuses on a British POW who is put to work making bombs. Rose refuses to do it, and pays a really high personal price.
