It gets even creepier by book 3, at least that was my impression. From the time Elsie's sixteen until (and past!) her wedding to Daddy's best friend(!), Daddy Dearest clearly has Issues. Adult Elsie sitting on his lap and cooing about how he's her lord and master doesn't help.
