Am working on a theory that one can only afford to kill the cat if somewhere else in the story, things work out kinda okay. :-)
I enjoyed Mockingjay. I wanted Katniss to make some small, positive change--to use her power for good (her Mockingjay power, not her mad archery power)--at some point, in some way, and in doing so give us a small note of hope--but the more I think about it, the more I don't feel like that was the story the author wanted to tell, though it was the story I wanted. But it wasn't enough to keep me from enjoying it. Not sure why, entirely.
