The teenaged twin ghosts- did this take place on an island, or a peninsula or something maybe, and did they die by drowning? I just had a sharp and narrow flash of memory, where my brain went "Maybe it's that book, where the boy was talking to the ghosts in his room and then had to pretend he was rehearsing for a nonexistent play, and they get him to look up their deaths on microfilm, and somebody's aunt was quizzing him on good food to take hiking (it was peanut butter)", but refused to supply any names or anything else useful.
