The elevator pitch: A half-demon girl who goes to Catholic school, and moves around a bunch every few years to avoid being hunted/persecuted by Demon purists.

The reality: It tends to kick a lot of tropes in the face, is every bit as much the story of her parents as it is about Jael (the protagonist), explores a luscious amount of mythology and the evolution of religious icons.

I'd call it American Gods meets Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I'm so, so sad there won't be more of these books (I think it didn't perform well enough for Amulet to pick up sequels).

Additionally, it is told in both third person past and third person present, the latter of which is a particular soft spot for me.
