Compassion in Action: Setting Out on the Path of Service, by Ram Dass

This book, which is supposedly about the ideal of selfless service, can be summed up as, "Hi, my name is Ram Dass and I'm a narcissist."

I will give an entire dollar to anyone who can cogently explain Ram Dass' continued popularity.

This is true. While I do not find it entirely satisfying as an explanation, the same is probably true of any explanation (other than that it is a bug in the universe and here's a patch for it). So if you ever meet me you may claim your dollar. :)

White guys who claim access to Eastern wisdom remain inexplicably popular? Unless I'm mixing him up with someone else.

Though by no means the only one.

Well, no. He's just the only one that I have had to notice recently. (At least no one is making ME read his books.)
