I will write a real review later, but in brief, this is a south Indian historical fantasy that plays like a myth transferred straight to the screen. It's absolutely gorgeous to look at, is full of moments straight out of legend, has a fantastic score and amazing action sequences, and also has a number of surprising plot twists.

It's only playing in the US for about two more days, and should be seen on the big screen. I haven't enjoyed a movie this much in literally years.

Trailer. (Not subtitled, but the movie has English subs.)

One of my favorite songs.

Ooh! It's playing down the street from where I am in NYC this week. I will try to find someone to go with me; thanks for the tip!

I did! Review forthcoming, later today. But you represented it well... the scenes that annoyed you annoyed me, but the rest of it was just fantastic.

Wow!! It's playing in my area for three more days!! I'm buying a ticket and going as soon as I can get someone to watch the tiny whirlwind!

YES GO. I have some minor quibbles which are essentially political rather than artistic (melting heroine's icy heart via stylized fight was clearly meant as breaking emotional barriers, but could also read as sexual harassment; dark-skinned barbarians, really?) and it does end on a very dramatic TO BE CONTINUED!!! But I ate up all three hours and would have happily sat through three more. The opening sequence, especially, is pure magic.

Also, in a certain grand Indian tradition, there is not one! Not two! But THREE badass middle-aged moms! Each badass in her own way!

I love this.

It is! If it's not playing near you, I suspect that downloadable versions are floating around the net.

That trailer was **epic**

So is the guy a famous cultural hero? Saved from the floodwaters that way as an infant?

I loved the scene in the beginning with the waterfalls.

No, but he's inspired by real ones. I have my review up now.

You realize of course that you just gave iTunes a bunch of my money because I *needed* that soundtrack asap. :-) It's really gorgeous and I wish I was close to anywhere that's showing this movie. Alas, I live out in the sticks, so I shall have to await the DVD release.

Gorgeous music and beautiful trailer.

Oh. Just because, I should tell you that my local mystery bookstore loves you because you sent me on a Dick Francis kick and a Agatha Christie kick.
