There is a character in the early parts of Ballet Shoes who's Italian and speaks in broken English, so in context an ethnic minority. He mentors the hero when he's a little kid. I don't recall him being especially egregious and he's meant to be very sympathetic, but, well, FYI.
Otherwise, I do think Thursday's Children is great.
