So here's the situation: of the four chapters I need to finish by (my self-imposed deadline) August, two are done. Of the next two, one should be easy, one difficult. Meanwhile, I am way behind in my day job, and two days overdue on script changes I need to input and send off for the Virginia Avenue Project show which is going up next week, aieee!

This is partly because yesterday all the lights on one side of my house went off. Again. Fiddling with the fuse box turns them on for about an hour. So I call my landlord. Again. This time he shows up and tries to fix them himself, with elderly wife in tow, no gloves or anything. Horrid noises, sizzles, flashes of light, everything goes black. Landlord decides to call actual electrician. I go to karate class. (Where the karate legend Dan Ivan had stopped in again to visit, but that's another story for when I have more time.)

After class Sempai, Hong Kong J, etc go out for dinner. I return to my house at midnight. The landlord has locked every lock on my door (there are three) including the one which I never lock because I lost the key. I call Sempai and ask if I can sleep on his couch. Sempai agreeably loans me his couch and pajamas, and we stay up till 1:30 watching old Bruce Lee footage on his deluxe DVD of ENTER THE DRAGON. Woke up at 8:00 (he had to go to work) and retrieved a key from the landlord.

My day is now about to begin. I think I'll get on those script changes. But first, coffee.

Since I posted the last entry, I...

Went to get coffee and discovered that the kitchen sink is backed up.

Had a professor at the Eastern Mennonite University ask if he could use my essay on sf and the young adult novel in a course on YA lit. (Aren't Mennonites like the Amish? Why are they online?)

FINALLY straightened out a truly ridiculous misunderstanding, which I probably shouldn't reveal here but which, I discovered, had held up my Secret Project, so the Secret Project should be back on track once I send them an updated bio, which I promised to do so in an hour.

Still haven't input any script changes.

1. Mail the books I'm supposed to mail (which is not just book exchange books, but also a book I did coverage on and need to return.)

2. Get any writing done, unless you count scribbled notes while driving, though perhaps I should because I think once I put them where they belong, they will be funny and improve the chapter.

3. Do anything about the sink.

4. Do anything about my day job.

5. Call the actors to tell them the tech schedule.

6. Pay my bills.

But I did finish the script changes! Plus I did laundry. Moreover, I trained at the Other Dojo for an hour and a half, and I was not the one who, when the Other Sensei had all of us brown belts do the Heian katas while the lower ranks watched in order to inspire them or something, forgot several moves from katas number three AND four, and forced her to change her talk to the class to one on how making mistakes and feeling stupid is part of the process and how you have to persevere anyway. So I call the day a success.
