Amazon is trying to do more with this third-party vendor thing, and I don't think it works very well if they don't exert QC of some sort. If I want to buy random products from unknown vendors, I go to eBay! Where it's cheaper.
If it is USPS, I think you may need to book the pickup, but I'm not sure. Possibly it depends on the area/driver. I know UPS will pick things up, if they are delivering, otherwise you need to book the pickup with them too.
