Oh! The Back of the Turtle by Thomas King. King is indigenous, born in the US but living in Canada now. I loved it. Its hero is a First Nations man who worked at an Evil Megacorp that caused a major environmental disaster; he attempts suicide, is rescued, and spends the rest of the novel creating community with the community he grew up with but has been alienated from, dealing with the environmental apocalypse, dealing with his own complicity, and looking for redemption. I loved it.
