This letter and its prompts are now complete!

My AO3 name is Edonohana. Thank you for creating for me!

If you have any questions, please ask the mods to check with me. If there is any issue with the mods feeling that your story for me doesn't fit my requirements, please point them to this letter and ask them to check with me first, rather than rejecting the story without checking with me.

I am a very easy recipient and will be delighted with whatever you make for me. I have no special requirements beyond what's specifically stated in my DNWs. I'm fine with all POVs (i.e., first, second, third), tenses, ratings, lengths, etc. I enjoy both shipfic and gen. I am fine with sex if it suits the story, or no sex if that suits the story.

General Likes: Hurt-comfort, action/adventure, domestic life, survival situations, mysterious alien technology, worldbuilding, evocative descriptions, camaraderie, loyalty, trauma recovery, learning to love again or trust again or enjoy life again, difficult choices, miniature things, food, and animals.

Art-specific likes: I like watercolors, bold graphics, Tarot cards, comics, pin-ups, characters in pretty/cozy environments, battle poses, and Art Nouveau. You can never go wrong by posing a character using their powers or with an adorable kitten/tiny dragon/pegasus/etc.

I have requested some of these canons before. All prompts in previous exchanges are still valid and welcomed. You can find them by clicking on the "fic exchange letter" tag.

Length opt-in: 300 minimum words for all fics. I genuinely enjoy very short stories as well as longer ones, and am particularly fond of short horror.

Worldbuilding Requests: Don't worry about failing to fulfill the "worldbuilding" aspect of the prompt - it would be almost impossible for you to do that by accident.

I consider a worldbuilding story to be one which explores the world/setting of the canon. This could involve exploring a corner of the world we don't see much in canon, getting into more detail on a part of the world we do see a lot of in canon, making some interesting custom or culture or place a big part of the story, or simply telling a story which includes vivid and atmospheric details of the world.

Where I've requested worldbuilding, I really love the world and want to see more of it. However, I do want an actual story with characters, not something like a travel guide or an encyclopedia article.

You can use either original or canon characters. I've noted canon-specific preferences about this in the sections on the individual canons.

General DNW: Current political figures, stories whose main point is to comment on current social or political issues, literal coronavirus (other pandemics or different illnesses with similar symptoms are fine), real-life terminal illness like cancer, dementia and brain damage, A/B/O, PWP (porn without plot), unrequested change-the-setting AUs (canon divergence AUs are always fine), non-canon human pregnancy and human babies or a heavy focus on canon human pregnancy or human babies (kittens, alien lizard babies, magical foals, etc are fine), infantilization, extreme body horror, adult/child, incest, on-page child abuse, detailed depictions of dental trauma, detailed or prominent depictions of gastrointestinal illness or issues, and the gross kinds of bodily waste (blood, sweat, and tears are fine).

Please no rape or death of requested characters or any characters who don't die in canon unless I specifically say it's OK for that canon.

Biggles - W. E. Johns
James "Biggles" Bigglesworth & Erich von Stalhein (Biggles - Johns)
James "Biggles" Bigglesworth/Erich von Stalhein (Biggles - Johns)

Medium Opt In: Art - Fanart, Cover/Illustration of Recipient's Fic, Fancomic of Recipient's Fic, Writing - Epistolary

I ship them. I also enjoy them in that weird liminal state where they're enemies and might actually try to kill each other while also deeply respecting and perhaps crushing on each other. I have a huge thing for this particular dynamic, which is hard to separate out into / or &. I love how Biggles keeps standing up for von Stalhein even (especially) when it seems absurd, and how von Stalhein can't seem to quit him even while he's shooting at him. I love how clever and resourceful Biggles is, and how he succeeds by wits and kindness and flight skills more than by punching people.

I like Biggles' friends and Marie and am happy to have them or any canon characters appear. I like survival situations and h/c and spy vs. spy and fish out of water and electric centipedes and giant squids. I like the way Johns can be pretty serious/realistic about things like PTSD and war, and also have characters get passionate about English vs. Spanish onions. I like how varied his plots and genres are. I like how often very minor characters have lives of their own, and how plots go in plausible but unexpected directions, like guns failing to fire and then firing unexpectedly, or how fake jobs can come with real responsibilities.

I'm interested in the ways that being in a war changed them, in their attitudes and beliefs. Biggles and Algy were fighter pilots as teenagers, saw a lot of people die, and on some level probably didn't really expect to survive. Is there any particular point when they realize that they could actually live to get old, or do they always feel a bit surprised when a birthday comes around? Von Stalhein, who was also in a war when he was fairly young, ended up much more bitter and cynical; was that all because of his post-war circumstances, or did some of it have to do with the difference between being a pilot and a spy?

For hurt/comfort, I really like characters having to carry out a mission or a job or being in some kind of survival situation while hurt or sick, and not being able to collapse until it's over (or if they do, someone else needs to pick them up and haul them along.) I do love comfort and caretaking too, but ideally during and/or afterward. I like PTSD, nightmares, and other post-war or post-trauma issues. I like injuries, exhaustion, exposure/weather-related things, and medium-serious illnesses (more serious than the flu, less serious than cancer) like malaria, which Biggles has canonically. Delirium and altered states of mind can be great ways to illuminate character and relationships.

If you want to take them in an SFF or horror direction, I would also enjoy that. I love canon-era-style ghost stories/eerie aerial stuff. Maybe they get involved in something like the Philadelphia Experiment or get sucked into the Bermuda Triangle or some sort of horror or fantasy dimension. Dinosaurs and megafauna are always good. I love the AU prompt that letters can be somehow delivered anywhere, anywhen.

I like role-reversals and fish out of water situations. A Biggles/von Stalhein bodyswap would be very fun, or a more realistic reason for them to have to take over each other's jobs.

I have so far only written one Biggles story, Red As Blood. I would be thrilled to get art or a comic based on it.

Canon-specific DNW: Period/canon-typical racism. WWII/Nazis, even mentions. Please assume von Stalhein was a double agent for the Allies or sucked into a cosmic rift for the duration. I would like stories to be set during WWI or post-war, or an AU thereof.

Children of Time Series - Adrian Tchaikovsky
WB: Any
WB: Corvid-alien hybrids
WB: Stomatopod History & Culture
WB: Other abandoned terraforming projects

For worldbuilding (WB), if it's fic, I do want an actual story with characters, regardless of the form it's in, not something plotless and characterless. I'm fine with all original characters, or including canon characters.

Medium Opt In: Art - Fanart, Writing - Epistolary, In-Universe Memoir, Writing - Diary Entry, Writing - Excerpts from a Character's Journal/Notebook

You can click on my tag for Adrian Tchaikovsky to see how enchanted I am with his books and his bug obsession. I adore these books and their uplifted spiders and octopi and other creatures. I would love to get some worldbuilding focusing on the non-human characters and their civilizations.

Tchaikovsky is primarily interested in science and technology, politics, war and peace, and the grand sweep of world-changing events. I'd like to get a story that focuses on what he doesn't: ordinary daily life, arts and entertainment, food, crafts, etc. A backstage drama in octopus world? A day in the life of a spider? GIANT SPIDER I MEAN SPOILER see rot13.com to decode: Gur zvpeborf tbvat ba na nqiragher? Yes please! I would also enjoy a story in an unconventional format: spider fanfic of octopus drama, a review of an acclaimed web artist, etc.

I would be thrilled to learn more about the stomatopods, the corvids, the octopuses, a new uplifted being, etc, and follow some of them for the stomatopod/corvid/virus/etc equivalent of a first contact, a night out on the town, a barroom brawl, a tender love story, a scientific or exploration mission, a horror story or an adventure (or both depending on your point of view, if you know what I mean).

Crossover Fandom
Dolores Claiborne (Dolores Claiborne - King) & Carrie White (Carrie - King)
Medium Opt In: Art - Fanart, Writing - Sequel To Previous Gift To Me By The Same Author

I would be thrilled with a sequel to my existing gift featuring Carrie and Dolores. I would also be delighted with a new story, or with fan art! In any case, feel free to include any King characters from books you know I've read.

I think they're fascinating characters and would have a really interesting dynamic, with their issues involving being a mother, having a mother, victimhood and violence, and other women.

Dragonriders of Pern - Anne McCaffrey
Menolly & Mirrim
Menolly/Mirrim
Lessa & Ramoth
Kylara/Lessa

Medium Opt In: Art - Fanart, Fancomic of Recipient's Fic, Fanart Cover/Illustration of Recipient's Fic

I have written a number of Pern stories and would be delighted with art or a comic based on any of them.

Art prompts: I would love something with dragons or fire lizards, or just a pinup of the characters.

Menolly and Mirrim are favorite characters of mine. I love them together in any way. I'd love to see them on an adventure or getting together or flying with Path. I also enjoy AUs in which Menolly Impresses a dragon. This section is shorter solely because I couldn't find other letters requesting them to copy and paste, but believe me, I would love a story with them.

I like how prickly and stubborn and brave Lessa was in Dragonflight, more than in later books where some of her edge wore off. I was also very intrigued by her psychic abilities, which mostly got forgotten after that. And I adored her relationship with Ramoth, so any dragon bonding or riding scene would be lovely.

Lessa/Kylara hatesex strikes me as very hot and I would enjoy it. Dubcon is 100% fine for this pairing, as is BDSM, Kylara's canon thing for rough sex and bruising, etc. It would also be interesting to see if there's any circumstance where it wouldn't be hatesex. I think they have more in common than they realize - ruthlessness, a drive to succeed at high cost, the will to gain power - and that would be interesting to explore. Kylara isn't a particularly nice person, but in some ways Lessa isn't either - she has much more of a moral compass and a willingness to sacrifice herself for the greater good, but she's good rather than nice. I have a lot of sympathy for Kylara. A lot of the bad things she does seem to come from not fitting into a culture that probably should have accepted her more than it did. Lessa is just as sexual as Kylara, she just expresses it in a more socially acceptable way.

I'd be interested in anything in the Dragonflight/Dragonsong/Dragonquest time. Maybe weyrling training together. Feel free to AU the timeline to put them together more. I'd also enjoy a canon AU where, for instance, their dragons are switched, Lessa is a Lady Holder and Kylara is Weyrwoman, or they ride totally different dragons (like, Lessa has a bronze and Kylara has a gold, or some such), which might enable dragon mating sex. Or what if things were just SO HOT AND ANGRY AND HOT that there was an unprecedented gold-gold mating? Perhaps an averted mating battle, like the one between Wirenth and Prideth, that became a mating instead of a tragedy?

DNW: Issuefic or requested character death. I'd prefer a story where Prideth is still alive but if you have a good idea for a post-queen battle story, go for it.

Revelator - Daryl Gregory
WB: Any
Stella Wallace & God in the Mountain | Ghostdaddy & Sunny Birch
Solo: Stella Wallace
Solo: God in the Mountain | Ghostdaddy
Solo: Sunny Birch

Medium Opt In: Art - Fanart, Writing - Sequel To Previous Gift To Me By The Same Author, Writing - Diary Entry, Illustrated Text, Excerpts from a Journal/Notebook/Sketchbook, Excerpts from a Character's Journal/Notebook

NOTE: I accidentally forgot to add "Sequel to story written for me by the same author. But I am very much open to this!

For worldbuilding (WB), if it's fic, I do want an actual story with characters, regardless of the form it's in, not something plotless and characterless like a travel guide or an encyclopedia article. I'm fine with all original characters, or including canon characters.

I'd love to see some of the writings of the Birch women, annotated or not. Did any of them ever keep a secret diary? What did they think when they finally got to read other books? What were the earlier Birch women like, what did they make of Ghostdaddy, and what stories did they tell? Are there more Birch women after Sunny, or is she the last?

So what does Stella do with an eldritch alien/weird spooky child entity??? What does the Sunny/Ghostdaddy being want to do now??? Do they go to war? Do they reach some kind of accommodation? I'd also enjoy something just about Stella, in earlier times, dealing with practical bootlegging problems like the charcoal briquettes.

What was Sunny's first meeting with Ghostdaddy like? How does she perceive her own change?

Post-book Stella, Sunny, and Ghostdaddy: ANYTHING GOES. Stella vs. GhostSunny in a battle over the fate of the world, or at least over one town? Sure! Stella finally gets a chance to confront Ghostdaddy when it can reply to her? Go for it! Stella conflictedly raises the GhostSunny child? I'm there for that! GhostSunny learns bootlegging? Why not? GhostSunny contains the memories of previous generations of women? It could happen!

For the solo Ghostdaddy request, I'd love something from its POV (where does it come from???) and/or pre-book encounters with earlier Birch women.

For art, I'd love to see art of Ghostdaddy, of the world or dimension it came from, of its cave with the sad/horrifying bodies of its failures, of one of the Birch women communing with it, or of a Birch woman focusing on their strange markings and/or powers.

The Sandman (Comics)
Solo: The Endless (The Sandman Comics)

Medium Opt Ins: Art - Comics, Fanart, Fancomic of Recipient's Fic, Fanart Cover/Illustration of Recipient's Fic, Writing - Epistolary

I have written several Sandman stories and would be delighted with art or a comic based on any of them.

Canon-specific DNW: I'd prefer that serial killers and Cain & Abel not appear in the story.

I would be happy with literally anything you want to write in this fandom. Feel free to be experimental or weird (or not), or as epic or intimate as you like; it goes with the territory. I love all the stories in which Delirium or Dream interacts with an ordinary person (or animal, or anthropomorphized concept, or fictional character, or figure from myth, or historical character), and changes their life, for better or worse. I also love the ones where they interact with their siblings, and snippets of their history.

I love all of the Endless: Death and Dream and Delirium, of course, but also ones we see less of. What does it mean that Despair defines hope, like Death defines life and (presumably) Delirium defines sanity? Does Destiny have a well-concealed personal life? Delight becoming Delirium seems like a bigger change than Despair or Death's new incarnations; does that mean that delight and its opposite (disgust?) are no longer core concepts of the universe, or will there someday be a new Delight, or could Delirium change again? Where does Destruction go next?

All the worlds of the comics were amazing and I would love to see any of them again; a few of my favorites were Barbie's (or, really, the whole concept of a realm of toys made real), the necropolis, and all the realms of the Endless.

If you'd like to include other canon characters, I especially like Wanda (AUs where she doesn't die are fine), Barnabas, Eblis O'Shaughnessy, and Matthew.

Bittersweet or dark endings are fine for this canon; so are happy ones.

The Sandman (TV 2022)
Dream of the Endless | Morpheus & Death of the Endless
Gault/Lucienne
WB: The Realm of Despair of the Endless
WB: Any
WB: World Ruled By Cats

For worldbuilding (WB), if it's fic, I do want an actual story with characters, regardless of the form it's in, not something plotless and characterless like a travel guide or an encyclopedia article. I'm fine with all original characters, or including canon characters.

Medium Opt In: Art - Comics, Fanart, Writing - Epistolary

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the TV version, as I'm a longtime fan of the comics. I loved these incarnations of Dream and Death. I would be delighted to see them doing literally anything together. He tags along on one of her workdays; does she ever tag along on one of his?

Gault and Lucienne were wonderful and I ship them. Does Gault ever visit Lucienne in her dreams, or come to the library to find a book that never was to use in someone's dream?

The TV series also has the bonus of not pinning down some things that are canonical in the comics, such as the realm of Despair. What's her realm like? What does she do in it? How does she interact with mortals, or with her siblings other than Desire?

If the cats succeed in dreaming the world back so it always was ruled by cats, is it the same as the world we saw, or different because it was dreamed by cats that had experienced modern life and rule by humans? Alternately, I'd enjoy a day in the life of the original cat world.

I would love any story that focuses on the vast and fascinating world of Sandman, from a writer dreaming books they never wrote in Lucienne's library to any of the Endless that we saw interacting with mortals (or immortals!) or each other, a dreamer in the Dreaming, Rose coming at last to Fiddler's Green, Lucifer ruling Hell and remembering Heaven, or anything at all.

Space Trilogy - C. S. Lewis
WB: Jupiter
WB: Any
WB: Perelandra
WB: Malacandra

For worldbuilding (WB), if it's fic, I do want an actual story with characters, regardless of the form it's in, not something plotless and characterless like a travel guide or an encyclopedia article. I'm fine with all original characters, or including canon characters.

Medium Opt In: Writing - Epistolary, Diary Entry, Writing - In-Universe Memoir, Excerpts from a Character's Journal/Notebook, Art - Fanart

Canon-specific DNWs: Weston, the Lady, an Earth setting, a heavy focus on religion or religious allegory.

I love the worldbuilding-centric aspects of these books - exploring Malacandra and meeting its inhabitants, and the transcendent early sections of exploring Perelandra. I would love something along those lines for either planet, or a Space Trilogy style Jupiter or Mercury or Saturn (etc).

I would love to see a story set on any planet, whether it involves an explorer from Earth or is entirely about the beings who already live there - or maybe beings from one non-Earth planet visiting another. Or maybe they can't visit, but can communicate back and forth in some manner. For Perelandra, perhaps an AU where it does have native inhabitants a la the ones of Malacandra.

Star Trek: Crossroad - Barbara Hambly
Karetha & Khethi & Varos
Any Future Timeline Rebels & Karetha & Khethi & Varos
Karetha & Khethi & Nemo & Sharnas
Adajia of Orion & Dylan Arios & Nemo & Phil Cooper & Raksha & Sharnas T'Gai Khir & Thaddeus

NOTE: I accidentally forgot to add "Sequel to story written for me by the same author. But I am very much open to this!

Karetha and Khethi and Varos come across so vividly in a short page space, and embody so many of the most intriguing aspects of the story. I would love to see some post-book fic about them joining with the rebels, but I'd also enjoy a pre-book story about just them: how do you get picked to bond with a yagghorth? How is the bonding arranged? Is there a mystique about them, like fighter pilots, or are they mostly regarded with horror? Did Karetha always love Khethi, or did their relationship grow over time? A story from Khethi's POV would be neat if you feel ambitious.

I love the rebels and their camaraderie. I'd love to see them bringing down hell on the regime, or a small scale adventure or some hurt-comfort with the small comforts available to them, or something getting into their angsty backstories.

Horror aspects are totally fine for this canon, whether it's dystopian horror or stuff like "we had to use chemical sensors to find the bones of the crew" or Khethi wreaking havoc for the rebels.

It's fine to kill canonical villains.

X-Men (Comicverse)
Kitty Pryde/Rachel Summers
Madelyne Pryor & Illyana Rasputin
Madelyne Pryor & Rachel Summers
Kitty Pryde/Illyana Rasputin/Rachel Summers
Jean Grey & Madelyne Pryor & Phoenix Force & Rachel Summers
Erik Magnus Lehnsherr & Rachel Summers
Solo: Madelyne Pryor
Madelyne Pryor/Ororo Munroe
Madelyne Pryor/Rita Wayword
Erik Magnus Lehnsherr & Illyana Rasputin

NOTE: I accidentally forgot to add "Sequel to story written for me by the same author. But I am very much open to this!

Medium Opt In: Art - Comics, Fancomic of Recipient's Fic, Fanart, Fanart Cover/Illustration of Recipient's Fic, Writing - Epistolary

I have written several stories for this fandom and would be thrilled with art or comics for any of them.

Canon-specific DNW: If the characters are clearly younger teenagers, please no sex. Kissing and light making out is fine. Please no emphasis on age differences in romantic pairings. You don't need to state anyone's age, just please don't explicitly state that someone's underage unless it's a gen or kissing-only story.

I'm mostly a Claremont-era fan and am familiar with X-Men, New Mutants, Excalibur, and the limited series like Magik, Kitty & Wolverine, etc from that time. I love literally all the characters from those teams and also associated characters like Mystique, Destiny, etc, if you want to bring any others in.

I'd love to see an adventure or a canon AU or just a day in the life for any of them. Characters using mutant or magical powers for mundane tasks like chores never fails to amuse.

Rita Wayword/Spiral is a fascinating, tragic character - does Spiral still get flashes of Rita's memories, or vice versa due to the time twisting? Her encounter with Alison right before the X-Men "died" was extremely creepy and also had weird sexual vibes. I'd be up for dubcon or something that brings in their experience with different types of showbiz.

Madelyne Pryor is also fascinating and tragic, and I felt like she deserved a much better story than she got. I liked her a lot pre-Goblin Queen. So some kind of fix-it for her would be fantastic, whether it's her not becoming that, coming back from it, or literally anything but what actually happened. I'd love to see some encounters with her and Rachel or Spiral or Illyana or the Phoenix Force. All of them had to deal with trauma in a context that no one else could really understand, but I bet they could understand each other.

I love everything about Illyana's trauma and would love something set in Limbo - maybe with some of the Limbo X-Men. Or equally creepily altered versions of the New Mutants. Similarly, I love everything about Rachel's trauma and would love to see some of the other characters somehow end up with her in her altered future. I'd also love to see her enjoying life and small pleasures in the present. The same goes for Illyana. I'd love to see her and Kitty or her and Maddie having a fraught adventure in Limbo, or just spending some time together appreciating ordinary life.

The women who had the Phoenix Force never ended up all onstage at the same time in a context where they could actually have a conversation. I really really wanted that to happen.

Art Prompts: I'd love a pin-up, the characters hanging out or in battle poses, or with a pet. Different outfits or AU outfits (noir, historical, high fantasy, etc) are always good. I love Illyana's soulsword and armor, whether in her or Kitty or someone else. A comic would be amazing!
