Haven't read Paver but I remember in a previous job a mother inter-library-loaned every volume of Paver's children's series Chronicles of Ancient Darkness on behalf of her daughter (a fan). It was nice to see a series eliciting that kind of enthusiasm, and I retain a kind of residual affection for the author just from that experience.
I've toyed with the idea of reading Wakenhyrst. Would be interested to know how you find it if you do read it.
