My buddy who lives in Mumbai, and her extended family, are all OK. This is the big one that I have been heaving sighs of relief and saying thankful prayers over for days.
My Saiyuki Reload calendars, and a really pretty furoshiki I got on eBay to wrap an awkwardly-shaped present, both arrived from Japan today -- great news since I'm a cheapskate who went for SAL shipping, even knowing there was a risk they might not arrive in time for the holidays.
I just saw this movie a few days ago, which is incredibly sweet and heart-warming and life-affirming and all that good warm-and-fuzzy stuff.
Recently discovered this song, which I've had on gleeful (if slightly homesick) heavy rotation ever since. Multi-lingual genre-crossing third culture kid positive island music FTW!
And, um...my kitty and puppy are snuggling next to me and being really cute? I could try to take a picture although it'd honestly just look like a repeat of past incidents of interspecies snorgling...
