It's an amazing series; I think I first started watching it in middle school, with my parents, when we lived just outside Baltimore. I added it to my Netflix queue a while back to do exactly what you describe, but it hasn't reached the fore yet. (We don't have broadcast TV, so we're watching some other series first.)
A word of warning: don't read the Netflix summary of the movie. Though it only describes the film's premise, it contains a spoiler that shocked me as a fan of the show.
