AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spoilers for Pawn and Buffy season 5.
Actually, I think I was probably less traumatized than I would have been going in completely cold, because I was only half freaked out, and half relieved that Phillippa made it.
Normally I disapprove of child-killing for emotional effect, but in this case I admire Dunnett for not weaseling out of her set-up. Also, usually that sort of dilemma-- one person dies, or else everyone dies-- is resolved by the hero saying, "OK, then everyone dies, including the person I supposedly want to save, because I just can't bear to make that decision." Ie, Buffy saves Dawn at the expense of the destruction of the whole world, including Dawn. And then somehow everyone is saved anyway. And the hero's decision is presented as a good thing. I always feel that that's stupid and also morally wrong. Sorry, but the good of the many does outweigh the good of the one, especially if that one dies anyway. If you make the decision to let everyone die, then everyone really should die. So I liked that Dunnett didn't go there, and did follow though.
Um, and Marthe is not a guy. I still feel that there are really a lot of Crawfords floating around.

While watching Fullmetal Alchemist, there was a relatively early episode where I turned to my friend and said, "I'm going to be really upset if [spoiler] buys the farm". Guess what? Some dozens of episodes later, they bought it. Argh!
Which one do you think Lymond saved?
