We're fifty thousand words in Traitor. Have it all planned--that one is writing itself. (Rebel was more difficult)

Why was Rebel more difficult? (Or, conversely, why is Traitor easier?)

Rebel has a more complex structure, being mainly character driven (though plenty happens.)

Traitor has a straight through line: Voske comes back.

Rebel is structured more by theme than by plot, and it has a lot of interwoven storylines that are thematically related rather than all the storylines are part of a single overarching plot.

Traitor also has multiple storylines, but they all involve a single plot.
