What made you decide to make food so significant to these books, and can we get any Los Anclas recipes?

Ooh, I like what you've done here, with spoilery and nonspoilery

Which were your favorite Kerry interactions to write (and are there any you're looking forward to that wouldn't be a spoiler)? Also, I really loved the dungeon. What was the most fun scene in Hostage?

Re:

I loved writing from Kerry's POV. My own favorite was the big decision, during her last convo with her father. Rachel let me work on that in draft after draft before she gave it a work over. (We wrote the gist together, as we do, but I kept coming back at her with all these how to get there from here points, Kerry's emotional-logic train of decision, while the convo was going on, so we didn't have a gigantic block of internal thought text.)

The most fun, though, is tied between Ross's first trip through Gold Point and how horrified he was--we actually ended up cutting that one way, way down; it was a lot longer, just because Ross's horrified reactions to the Gold Point peeps was so much fun--and the dam. Runner up? The Fruit Shed encounter. (We ended up trimming that one, too, for pacing. It was a lot longer, too, in initial draft because we were having such a great time with it.)

Ross meeting people in Gold Point was SO MUCH FUN, oh my god. Ross's Guide To POstapocalyptic Communities would be a bestseller :D

Kerry and Ross in the dungeon and the subsequent interaction ("You're going to math our way out of here?" "We don't need an army. We have you.") were some of my favorites to write, both in Hostage and for her in general. I also really enjoyed her intro chapter in Hostage because it was so different from any POV we'd done before.

Kerry has a scene in Rebel that I really enjoyed writing, involving a rat. She has some scenes in Traitor which I'm also looking forward to. I don't think it's spoilery to say that they involve her father.

<3333 The dungeon scene was amazing fun to read, AND YES, RATS. Looking forward to that rat.
