I have created an open community,
reading_maha, for reading the great Indian epic, The Mahabharata. (The link takes you to the Wikipedia entry, so don't read too far if you plan to read the text and want to be surprised. The user info lays out the ground rules for the community (stay on-topic.)
I invite you to join me! I will soon update with notes from my ongoing re-read of Kamala Subramaniam's version, but I will be reading other versions as well, so feel free to jump in with any text at any time.
PS. I have not given up on Genji. I just felt the need to read something with more battles, Gods, Goddesses, elephants, boons, tournaments, transformations of gender, transformations of species, and fight scenes.
