Today I took the day off and went to Pazzo Gelato in Silverlake, where I sampled guava, blackberry, and blueberry-vanilla with goat milk, but ultimately settled on chocolate-hazelnut and strawberry with dark chocolate flakes. Very good, albeit not Italy-standard. The woman who worked there said they do make fior di latte, and also fior di latte with lavender, but they change their flavors daily so I should call ahead.

Then I had General's Noodle at Sanamluang Cafe, which is a bowl of thin egg noodles in soup garnished with pork crumbles, garlic, green onions, duck, barbecued pork, and shrimp. Then I bought some green gelatinous squares topped with shredded coconut, and a box of fresh warm coconut doughy rounds at a Thai sweet shop across the way. Seeing my greedy look, the lady threw in an extra warm coconut thingie for free.

Oh, and I read a book (Cures for Heartbreak, very good YA reminiscent of Sarah Dessen), re-read a book (Nancy Werlin's Locked Inside, still my favorite of hers-- excellent, unusual thriller) and read a graphic novel (latest Y: the Last Man... um... some plot-related stuff was improbable, though I still love the characters. Classic dialogue from Natalya, whose English really is much better than her companions' Russian: "If I leave you two and a half helpless girls by lonesome, Yiddish womens will kill you all."

I may report in more detail later, but now my elbows now hurt.
