I just got my second email protesting a review I wrote several years ago, of R. L. Stine's dreadful vampire novel, Dangerous Girls:

"I think R.L.Stine's book about vampiers is really fine. Me and my sister are looking forward to geting the other one, about Livvy. You can think R.L.Stines book is not very good, but there is no need to post it all over the internet."

As is usual when I get hate mail or, as in this case, annoyed mail regarding a review I wrote, I felt quite cheered.

*snicker*

I had a back and forth down and nasty bitchslap session with a guy this week over one of my reviews. Should be in the Letters column next issue, if it's not up already.

Oh yes. We've been following that one on the editors list. What's that saying about a duel of wits with an unarmed person? The guy wasn't smart enough to realize that he'd been bested in the first exchange, so he came back to be ground into the dirt again.

Hmm, that doesn't seem to be up yet. I look forward to reading it when it is.

I saw the sequel to Dangerous Girls today. The cover is hilariously bad. I can't believe anyone would dare pick it up.

I got one of these about a recent Lloyd Alexander novel I gave a bad review: an 11-year-old wrote me to say, "But I liked it, so there, Lloyd Alexander is cool." I agreed that Lloyd Alexander was indeed cool and steered him towards the Westmark series, which he hadn't read yet. Wrath of Adolescents averted.

Not very clear on what reviewing is about, is he/she?
The single line you quoted from that novel told me all I needed to know about it...
