On October 29 I will be 32. I say this now so that, should anyone be moved to write or draw or otherwise create me something as a birthday present, they will have time to do so.

I like original fiction. I like fanfiction. I like long juicy essays on topics that interest me. And I like drawings of hot men and tough women, optionally kissing each other (in any combination.) And I like vids.

Since most people seem to get inspired by guidelines, here are mine, bearing in mind that these are suggestions rather than rules:

My fandoms: Saiyuki, X/1999, Firefly, Buffy, Angel, Revolutionary Girl Utena, The Lymond Chronicles, Shakespeare, Fushigi Yuuugi, Modesty Blaise, the Mahabharata, Clover, Tsubasa, Trigun Georgette Heyer, and Jacobean and Elizabethan drama. And Naruto, as long as there's no spoilers for anything after volume 7.

Favorite characters and relationships: Hakkai, Hakkai/Gojyo, Karen Kasumi, Sorata/Arashi, Buffy, Faith, Buffy/Faith (not necessarily sexual), Wesley, Modesty and Willie (not Modesty/Willie), Kazuhiko, Utena/Anthy, Karna (like anyone's going to write me Mahabharata stories...)

Generally speaking, I seem to like men with dark hair, dark secrets, deep angst, and glasses, and women in complicated "shadow sister" relationships. Also, (this is for the artists) I like collarbones, bangs in the eyes, and men in uniform. And I like martial arts, swords, and "die for each other" friendship.

Weird hang-ups: I generally prefer R-rated more than X-rated, especially in pictures. I do not like non-canon incest (except for Simon and River, which I consider virtual canon) or non-consensual anything, though angst and mixed motives are always good. I do not like under-age anything, but by under-age I mean "under sexual maturity" not "under eighteen." I do not like Mal/Inara as a couple, or any slash pairing for Fullmetal Alchemist</i< except maybe Roy/Hughes in Ishbal, before Gracia came into the picture. Otherwise, I like het, gen, slash, femme slash, whatever. Gold rings, of course, are always a good gift. If you can let go of them, that is.

I generally prefer R-rated to X-rated

I read that at first as a preference for a range rather than a preference between two choices, which made me briefly startled at your forthrightness.

dark hair, dark secrets, deep angst, and glasses . . . collarbones, bangs in the eyes, and men in uniform.

*blink* My new favorite icon sounds made for you, though you have to look hard for the collarbones.

That should have been, "I like R-rated better than X-rated." As you surmised.

I love your icon.

I can't really call it an early birthday present, since I'd designated it for public use when I made it, but it is free for the taking and if you want it you're welcome to it.

(Isn't it pretty? Have you seen the original image it's from? It took me some time to get my jaw up off the floor after I saw it, believe me.)

Re: Hinting

Was it the hobbits who gave other people presents on their birthdays, or was that some other culture?

I was thinking of re-watching the vids before writing any of them up, or else my write-ups would all be something like, "It was "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails, the song I always think of as "I want to fuck you like an animal," and [livejournal.com profile] sisabet did it, and it was about Spike/Angel, and it was really intense and also hot and I thought it was awfully well-done."

Hobbits, yes. A very civilized custom. We almost did that for our 33rd birthday party (the hobbit coming-of-age birthday).

You'll probably have to settle for an original poem from me. Sorry.

I'm still trying to deal with my sudden image of Georgette Heyer as a creator of anime and manga.

Don't you wish someone would adapt Frederica as an anime? It's got bishounen, cute kids, and an animal mascot: a perfect fit.

Umm - I would only write you Mahabarata stories. Because I don't know what any of that other stuff is. (looks again - ok, maybe also Jacobean or Elizabethan).

How about a Victorian story! 1850's: Rani Lakshmibai at an English country house party?

I don't actually have time to write it, but I would read the hell out of it.

Oooooh, please write me a Mahabharata story! Or a Rani Lakshmibai story!

Dammit, I started a new story.
Dammit, I started a new story.

It is all your fault.

And it will come to haunt you.

women in complicated "shadow sister" relationships

Aww. If I were not blocked to the gills, I wld try writing you a hot sweet shadow sister Buffy/Faith story. Maybe I can give you an I.O.U.

I do not like Mal/Inara as a couple

Ha, did anyone? It was sort of like Doggett and Reyes....
