I got sidelined a bit by breaking my foot, which meant that I couldn't carry stuff and walk at the same time for three months. Nevertheless, I persisted!
Also I finally gave in and paid to have my 10-year-old gross carpet replaced since my landlord said he'd do it, but he'd raise my rent if he did. Since I had to move everything out of my bedroom, I took the opportunity to not move stuff back in if I didn't want it in there.

Of course a lot of the stuff that I moved out of the bedroom is now crammed into closets and/or the office. But I'm going through it, a little bit every day, and either finding a place for it or getting rid of it.
I LOVE my bedroom. The only new thing in it is the carpet, but it looks so great that the whole place seems new. The abstract painting over the Stephen King bookcase, for instance, is one I've had for years but never framed. I found a framed picture in my closet o' stuff, took it out, used the frame for the painting I actually wanted on my wall, and hung it up. Voila! Old stuff, new look.

Your room looks great. :D Also, I'm continually amazed by how many bookshelves (and books!) you have. As someone who currently only has one room (which is full of books), I think I'm actually less envious of how much space you've got than of the fact that you seem to also have enough books for all of it! :D

And while I was going to remark that your unreconstructed bedroom looked great compared to mine, the improvement is obvious and seems very pleasant.

My neighborhood has a lot of Little Free Libraries and anytime I'm out for a walk and pass one, I stop and organize it. (You'd think I might do this for my own books but there's something about a tiny, manageable task...)

It's been a long time since I had a carpet - previous place had wooden planks and this one has tiles - but I can remember a succession of crappy rental carpets before that. They do lose their condition faster than bare materials. Unless you're my mum, in which case your place always looks like a Home Open!
