American maple.

I thought those were red. The one I wondered about looks more like big-leaf maple to me, but we don't actually have it here, so my ID is suspect. And plant nomenclature is weird and differs locally.

You might be right. It's some sort of maple, anyway. The leaves are HUGE so maybe it is big-leaf.
