Here is another installment of my belated-reviews-of movies poll. Very sadly, there are several not listed because all I remember is that I hated them. I will still be reviewing movies from the previous poll, don't worry.

Passing while flist/dwircle hopping:

Some Like It Hot: everyone talks about the crossdressing, but nobody ever brings up Tony Curtis spending a third of the movie doing a terrible Cary Grant impression while he's trying to convince Sugar he's a millionaire.

And the movie is set at a time, I BELIEVE, just before actual Cary Grant entered the scene, which is even funnier.

I'm curious to see what you think of Jennifer's Body and why you hate it. It's one of my favorites, so I'm always curious to learn why it didn't work for other people :)

oooh, by the way, did you see Nope? I had to watch it a bit piecemeal and some moments through my fingers, but it definitely stuck with me, not just as horror, but as imagery and style and everything too.

Very much 'supposed' rom-com about The Apartment, which is more about the toxicity of corporate culture and what men (at that period, v much men) would do to Get Ahead. It's very sour. But if you take on those terms, and don't expect rom-com...

Also curious about Jennifer's Body...

Glad to see you mention that The Apartment is not a comedy. I do not understand why it gets filed as one. I would probably like it better if I hadn't been expecting a comedy, but maybe not?

I want to see Prey so badly. Did you watch it in Comanche?

It was so unpleasant I stopped watching it, which I almost never do.

I can't remember how it was advertised to me, though.

Edit: Wait, I actually did that with Plaza Suite, which is Walter Matthau being mean to his wife a lot. I don't even remember The Apartment, which means it's time for a rewatch.

I saw Sorry To Bother You, and vaguely recall that I thought it was great - except my strongest memory of it is that I saw it with a friend who *hates* body horror and also hated her call center job, at the recommendation of my sister, who had said we should avoid learning anything about it before seeing it. This was a bad idea.

I've seen a number of the Wilder's, but about 20 years ago, so memory: not green. I did like Sabrina better than the remake, but liked the remake more than most people did.

I've really got to see Sunset Boulevard again now that I'm older and have more context.

Stalag 17 was one of my mom's favorite movies and I've seen it a lot over the years, but not recently at all. I'm very interested to hear what you thought.

Double Indemnity is an all-time favorite of mine too -- it's just such an effortlessly compelling film and my guy Edward G. Robinson is so effortlessly compelling in it!

My mother was just watching The Seven Year Itch the other weekend, when I called her, and talking about how much she liked it, because of how delightful Marilyn Monroe was and what a good actress. I don't think I've ever watched it at all.

Sabrina makes no sense at all. None. Audrey Hepburn is wonderful, a gazelle in beautiful clothing. The much older men thing the character has is disturbing to watch, now. I hate the ending.
