Handily installing the wood-burning stove. I hope. They are encountering some complications. It may not actually be usable till after Thanksgiving. Pray for it to actually work.

Alex is delighted with the handymen, who like cats and let him jump on their shoulders. I gave one of them a cup of coffee and warned him that he shouldn't let Alex jump on him while he was drinking it. He assured me he'd hold it out of Alex's way. Next thing I knew, Alex had launched himself off his shoulders in an apparent attempt to swan-dive into the cup. Coffee EVERYWHERE.

Ahaha, you also have a cat who likes coffee! Braveheart is a little less obnoxious about it, but I have to babysit any given mug or she'll dunk her head in. Her favorite thing to sneak into is coffee ice cream, though.

When I was a teenager my cousin had a parakeet who used to swan-dive into undefended glasses of water. I had been warned about this, but nothing can really prepare you for standing around in the kitchen chatting when all of a sudden there's a rapid streak of movement over your shoulder and your perfectly normal glass of water has the back end of a parakeet thrashing around in it.

Oh, excellent! I hope the installation works out well. And ah, cats. Mine likes tea but fortunately is much too elderly to be athletic about it. Still, if you leave a cup of tea on the ground, it will be shared...

Hope it all goes smoothly! We've got two wood burners in the house, and they're so lovely and cosy in the winter (and our kitchen one has an oven compartment which is the only place I can cook a whole turkey...)
