After driving out to the video store I don't go to that often, because it's not that close any more and has exorbitant late fees, to return a late DVD, what did I find when I just now started cleaning my living room? Two more late DVDs from the same place! Dammit.

Also, I have reason to believe that FedEx just changed its phone number to something that is either identical to my home number but with a different area code, or that differs from mine by one digit. I leave it as an exercise to the reader to figure out the annoying recent events that make me think that.

Finally, it is 90 degrees Fahrenheit, I don't have air conditioning, and it is only halfway through July.

Buh? Aren't air conditioners mandatory in SoCal? Even crappy student housing around here has at *least* a window unit or two, and any apartment nice enough to rent to actual adults with, like, jobs would have central air.

Alas, no. I've only ever lived in one apartment that was air-conditioned, and it didn't work very well.

It does get very hot here, but only for two months out of the year, and the rest of the year you don't need air conditioning, unless you're unfortunate enough to live in the valley.
