Regarding the airbags, I looked up my EMT's handbook, and it said that they often don't deploy in a roll-over, which they also said is generally the worst type of crash. Especially if you're not belted, because you're hurled through the windshield (first impact) then hit the ground in front of the car (second impact) then the car lands on top of you (third impact.) (This sounds like an outtake from EVANGELION.) Never mind the airbags, the insurance issues alone may end up in a lawsuit. Ugh. Oh, and my HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREETS DVDs are about a week overdue.
(Great show, by the way. Much better than NYPD BLUE. Wonder if there's a big Pembleton/Bayliss fan club.)
Meanwhile, I have to stage manage a show which is teching tomorrow and the day after, and going up Friday and Saturday, the latter of which is a matinee and an evening show. Then I have a karate day camp on Sunday. Then I'm theoretically back to work on Monday. Not. I think the jewelry business can live without me for another day or so, seeing how I nearly gave my life for it.
I feel beat to hell today, and seem to be coming down with a cold. Gee, wonder if it might be stress-related. But at least I'm not dead. Or piloting a loose-cannon giant robot to please my hateful father who wants to turn humanity into a psychoanalytic hive mind. So things could be much worse.
Also meanwhile, if anyone knows of a good manga fan artist with excellent skills and a professional attitude who is just dying for a shot at the big time, please email me. And if you have any recommendations for excellent unlicensed manga which you would like to see licensed, please put them in the comments section, along with links to where I could see them scanlated, preferably in a way where I can just click on them, as I STILL can't get bit torrent to work for me.
Now I have to walk to the car rental place. Those of you who I owe books to... I have a feeling nothing's going out till next week. Sorry.

I'm somewhat giving up on Lao Shi as an artist, but I might still want to use some of your classmates as models. Do you have photos of any of them (especially sifu and Push) posted anywhere? (I am seriously contemplating asking J-- if he would mind if I photographed him for the purpose. But I think it might make him majorly self-conscious. Not to mention what it would make me.)

Sorry it didn't work out. >_<
I do have pictures of Push and there are a few of Sifu somewhere. I'll dig them up and send them to you.

Yes, if you find a picture of Push please email it to me immediately. It's possible that I've found my artist.
I've decided that I don't need the actual J-- to pose. If you imagine Takeshi Kaneshiro being half Japanese and half something else, you get... well, not J-- exactly, but a person who would have the same effect on onlookers as J--:

Actually, the far right bottom picture on gallery 4 bears some resemblance.
And by the way-- I so envy that you got to see the kawaii Seki. Eeeee! Squeeee!
Does he speak English, or was there a translator? Did he do any voices?

i've had a crush on takeshi kaneshiro for ages. he'd be a very good model. i'm sure girls around the world will thank you. ^_~
seki-sama did not speak english nor did he do any voices, but he was by far the funniest one on the panel and the most endearing.
at the end of the closing ceremonies he was asked to draw in the daruma's other eye. one of the fangirls went nuts and screamed "you're SEXY!" he blushed and mumbled "uh, so... arigatou." shortly thereafter a fanboy screamed in a deep voice, "I LOVE YOU!" to which he looked up, blushed, opened his mouth to say something, then shook his head and turned back to the daruma. i figured you can't say much about that.

But it was nice training on Monday. Alan and Steve and Claudio converged on me when I walked in with Stan, who had given me a ride, then didn't seem to know what to say when they got there and mostly just said, "Rachel..." then stared at me.
When we were lining up Alan said, "I hope you all had a nice Fourth of July weekend... er... except for Rachel."
