Is there anyone here who would be willing to burn the complete run of Heroes so far on to a DVD in a format that would play on a DVD player?

This isn't for me, it's for [livejournal.com profile] sartorias, but I think more people who read this are tech-savvy TV fans here than on her LJ.

In return, I could send you a short story of your choice (um, that might take a while), random BPAL imps, books from my Mooch list http://www.bookmooch.com/m/inventory/rachelphoenix, uploaded music, and/or my eternal gratitude.

If no one else takes you up, remind me after the holidays - I can do it, but I have no time right now (I have to burn QI episodes to DVD for my mother. :D)

Can her DVD player read avi files?

Not that I can do anything until the new year. But I do have the first few eps as avi files.

I don't know--I am extremely stupid with tech things.

BTW I will get whatever you would like as a trade-off, Rachel should not have to! It's just that there are few TV folks reading my LJ--I did ask a while back and got a resounding zero responses.

I have all the episodes so far in AVI format, and am capable of burning them to DVD-Video.

It would probably take about 8-10 hours total duration to set up the discs and burn them (encoding to DVD-Video is non-trivial for most modern computers and generally takes about 50% - 100% of the time it would take to view the video you encode).

If you wish, you can work out favor trading with [livejournal.com profile] misia. Also know that I have other video-related projects on my plate and would probably need a delay similar to the others so far posting.

That would be great, thanks. I'd like to take you up on it.

Does she like BPAL?

She says that she's kinda picky about scents, but she gets the sense that I'm not doing it for the trade, but to helpful, which is true. If you'd instead like to send us some foods later, or whatever your whim is, that's also fine. It's not a huge deal. :)

I found a way to cut the encoding time down to about 1:10 hours per 2 episodes by using two tools instead of one, so I'm almost ready to burn the discs. There will be 6 discs (2 episodes per disc, 11 episodes), given the resolution of the original episodes.

This also gives me a way to take the episodes off of my volatile storage (i.e. hard drives to DVD media), so don't worry about the effort too much - I mostly quoted it so you'd know there'd be a delay in preparing them.

Hopefully we'll be sending them to you soon. Does [livejournal.com profile] misia have your snail mail address?

Thank you very much!

She does have my address but you may as well send them directly to Sherwood. I'll dig up her mailing address for you.
