I saw a doctor, who thought it was a torn or strained sub-scapular muscle (the one that connects the shoulder blade to the back, or something like that) and gave me Vioxx and a prescription for physical therapy. So far the Vioxx doesn't seem to be doing anything; I took it about an hour ago and if anything, it now hurts more. If tonight turns out to be my fourth night of too-much-pain-to-sleep, I'm calling him for a new prescription first thing in the morning.

I'm so sorry Rachel. *gentle hug* I hope you feel better soon.

I'm sorry :(

I've never taken Vioxx, but I've taken Celebrex, which is in the same
family, and I've never found it to be particularly good as a painkiller. It does, however, bring down inflammation.

Eeee... I'm sorry to hear about this. Hope they're able to figure out what's going on with your back and get you back to your normal, active self in short order.

I do hope you haven't been training... :( I hope you feel better soon. Injuries suck so, so much.

If you strained the ligaments or you tore clean through the muscle, the pain is normal, especially in that back/rib area. Take your zinc, eat your protein, and stretch a little. How about naproxin for an anti-inflammatory?

(btw... i take if you might not want to see bang rajal with me. :) get some rest!)

I can't train. I can hardly move.

Yeah, I got a second prescription, this one for naproxen. Which also doesn't seem to be doing anything. Plus I have a prescription for physical therapy, and am scheduled to show up at 3:00 pm today.

When are you seeing the movie? I might be able to come.

there's a 7:00 p.m. showing, and then 9:50.... give me a call or i'll call you. and then food before/after.

naproxin (which is really just aleve, but in prescription form -- you probably already know that) doesn't really do anything for the pain directly, but it does help the swelling and it's a muscle relaxant, so it's supposed to reduce pain indirectly. but anti-inflammatories are always good. my ankle would never have healed as well as it did without the naproxin.
