Since I am only moved to extemporaneous poetry about once every ten years, your last chance for the next ten years to read a sample (and be glad it doesn't occur more often) is buried in the comments section of my last post.

ANGEL SANCTUARY just got added to my stack. (I was actually looking for X/1999 15.) I have two and a half entire shelves filled with manga, which caused me to buy another bookcase, which, I realize belatedly, is what may have caused my back/shoulder injury. So manga has cost me not only hundreds of dollars from the cover price, but physical pain, lost work days, lost writing days, and whatever the insurance won't pay for in terms of doctor's bills, drugs, and physical therapy.

Manga: it's not just a hobby, it's an addiction.

Saw a T-shirt for sale at Otakon reading 'Manga: Crack Would Be Cheaper.' Someone had bought one and scrawled on it in Sharpie 'And Has Rehab Programs.'

Some days I understand that a bit well.

I'd be interested to know what you think of Angel Sanctuary, as it is one of those series on which my opinion is incredibly, incredibly complicated and confused and I'd love to know how other people think about it.

Seconded on the AS thoughts--I'm only two volumes in and fascinated, but confused. And the only reason I'm not more confused is that I've read partial summaries online, years before they started bringing it out. (I first encountered the art, which I'm enamored of.)

Of course, someone loaned me the first few volumes of Blade of the Immortal, and someone else sent me Battle Angel Alita...

Not bad verse. You should kick your muse for not visiting more often. Would it hurt her to pick up the phone once in a while?

Me to [livejournal.com profile] wavinggrain: You know, I've been buying YA books for years, but whenever I'm in the manga section, I want to hold up a sign that says, "I read other things too, really, and also, I am not lurking with the intent of molesting your children."

[livejournal.com profile] wavinggrain: I just want to be able to resist spending the rent money on this stuff. It's like *crack*.

M.: Yeah. That would be nice, too.
