rachelmanija: (Autumn: small leaves)

In case anyone was wondering, yes, I feel terrible about the attacks in Mumbai, which killed a lot of people (none of whom I know) and destroyed or damaged some places, some of which I know quite well. But I don't have any thoughts or wisdom beyond that.

This has been an exceptionally crummy year so far. So I am going to be completely selfish and see about making it a little nicer for me personally.

STEP ONE

Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun to medium to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO

Surf around your friends list (or friends of friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

MY WISHLIST

1. A home-burned mix CD. I love the mix CDs people have kindly mailed me before, and listen to them often.

2. A home-burned DVD. I love the DVDs people have kindly mailed me before, which have introduced me to so many great shows before they were available in the USA. [livejournal.com profile] rushthatspeaks introduced me to Fullmetal Alchemist that way, [livejournal.com profile] rilina to Bleach, and one of the above or perhaps [livejournal.com profile] oyceter or [livejournal.com profile] octopedingenue to Spooks, Naruto, and Samurai Champloo..

3. Home-made edible things: jam, cookies, anything that will travel.

4. LJ Icons.

5. Write me a story -- original or fanfiction, your choice.

6. Books I am looking for: http://bookmooch.com/wishlist/rachelphoenix

7. Mail your gently read manga to a library for Navajo kids!

re: #7
Oh, that's wonderful! I can do that.

No, it's just alphabetized. I'm probably most eager to get the books that are either genuinely hard to find, either because they're out of print or not available in the US, and the new hardcovers by favorite authors.

Do you download the mixes I post?

I could burn and mail some of those, or do a new one.

I mostly listen to music in the car, so no, but I would love a CD or two!

Angel Sanctuary? (As it currently owns my brain and Godchild pictures don't seem to want to come to me.)

The Mad Hatter, Setsuna, Sara, Alexiel, Lucifer, Kurai, and Kira of course-- pretty much everyone except Katou, Sevothtarte, Michael, and Raphael. And the giant flying zombie eyeball.

Don't you just love how you can techinally list off the same person 2-3 times, but still be talking about different characters?

(I just finished the third Fairy Cube. I think I actually understood it. Maybe.)

I fear it shows that I haven't made many icons in a few months. Not sure if the first make sense, though it's inspired by a coonversation vbetween you and oyceter that you related.

HEEE! Those are awesome! Especially the embryo of the cursed bloodline. Thank you very much!

(I get the first, but I'm not sure anyone else will!)

I suspect anyone who's had the "how is that possible" thought will get it, but otherwise...

(OMG WTF ENTIRE ROOM OF BODY PARTS IN JARS WHAT?!)

For the edification of unnamed people who might be interested: does your car stereo play mp3 CDs, or would the songs need to be in their original uncompressed format?

I can definitely make and send cookies! Do you have any food allergies or preferences? Stuff you like/don't like?

From: [identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com

AWESOME!

No allergies. I don't like raisins, anise, citrons, or (in cookies) ginger.

From: [identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com

Yay! I'll make you up a tin of cookies, then. If you'd like to send me your address, my e-mail is in my profile!

I can make you a CD...as soon as I get my laptop fixed...(it might take awhile). :(

But I'll burn you one!!!

I would be happy at the least to pimp more stuff! What are you in the mood for (anime? manga? live-action?), and/or should I freestyle?

Also my used comic store has about seven MEELLION elderly Gundam mags/novelizations/??? in English or Japanese (hence the ???), if any would be entertaining. Plus some comics with Rama and Krishna et al that are probably serious religious instructions for children but I was mostly focused on the talking elephants lamenting their fate of being pulled down by talking crocodiles.

I can mail you a second-hand copy of Half of a Yellow Sun in January?
