I took these photos a couple months ago, but forgot to post them. The first set are of the alpine landscape of an area just outside of Yosemite and at a higher elevation, only accessible by a quick boat ride across a very blue lake. The dog is Roxie, my parents' caretaker's dog, whom we borrowed because she's a hiking dog and likes snow.

The hummingbird photos were taken at my parents' place in Mariposa, near Yosemite. They have gotten so used to people that I took the photos from about a foot away. I was trying to get them to perch on my finger. Also, a dachshund race at a rodeo.

That was the "dachshund race" at the rodeo, inexplicably won by a non-dachshund ringer, possibly a labrador puppy.

Those are so beautiful! I love the balancing rock--and the hummingbirds.

I love the photos of the hummingbirds.

I did get a hummingbird to perch on my hand once, though not a wild one -- in the hummingbird aviary of the San Diego Zoo. You hold out a red flower or something else that hummingbirds like to eat and then stand completely motionless for a really long time.

/cool story, bro

We have gladioli outside one of the windows that attract hummingbirds. I'm hoping when Chaz brings the boys out here that the window will serve as cat TV.

Wow, my hummingbirds won't even let each other at feeders 15 feet apart, much the same one.

I really, really needed to see hummingbirds today. Thank you so much.

Do the hummingbirds do the jousting-with-each-other thing? The ones at the feeder in Texas do, and it really is jousting, including the miss-go-around-for-another-pass part. I keep expecting them to be riding bees or something.

Not exactly, but there were so many of them that the feeder was like a landing strip with too many planes.
