I'd like to lure more people into participating in the AU Exchange, for alternate universes!

Both canon divergence (What if Narnia isn't destroyed after Calormen wins? What if different characters survive the plague in The Stand?) and actual alternate universes (what if Edward II's Isabella had a dragon? What if the Jeeves & Bertie Wooster stories were set in space?) These are all actual tags, by the way.

You can select from available fandoms and types of alternate universes here in the tagset - the types of alternate universes are under "freeforms," sorted by ones specific to certain fandoms and ones that can be applied to any, labeled "ALL." So, for instance, you select Heian Jidai | Heian Period RPF as your fandom, Murasaki Shikibu/Sei Shonagon as your characters, and ALL: Noir AU or ALL: Character(s) forced into circus run by evil being as your AU. And so forth.

These are all also actual tags, by the way.

What tags are calling to you?

I wrote four stories for AU Exchange.

First Pilot - The Punisher (TV 2016). A space opera AU in which the Liebermans are fugitives on a stolen spaceship and Frank is the mysterious hyperspace pilot they rescue. You could probably read it as original fiction without knowledge of the show.

It was a pinch hit I picked up for Layla and ended up madly writing 9K + in three days while madly packing to go visit her in Alaska. It turned out that she had also written for me, also a science fiction AU in the same fandom, both focusing on Frank and Leo's surrogate father-daughter relationship.

Matchmaker of Mars - Star Trek - The Original Series. A 1930s science fiction writers AU. The prompt was "Uhura and T'Pring vs. John W. Campbell," so credit for that goes to the recipient, scioscribe, not to me.

I had a lot of fun writing snippets of their work. I was also reminded of why I don't normally write non-fantasy historical fiction, as that under-3K word story found me researching whether the 1930s had liquid paper, egg timers, and the use of -30- to end a manuscript, not to mention specific titles of pulp magazines, new-for-the-time polymers, and the letters of John W. Campbell. My hat is off to everyone who writes entire historical novels.

And they went into the ark to Noah, two by two - The Leftovers (TV). I got a really cool prompt for this which I don't want to mention as it's very spoilery for the show. If you've already watched it, you might enjoy my story.

Wings - Game of Thrones. Sansa Stark, Queen in the North, and Daenerys Targaryen, Queen of the Six Kingdoms, enter into an arranged marriage in a world in which all women can kill with a touch. (A fusion with Naomi Alderman's The Power.)

I'm requesting fic for everything. But if anyone feels moved to give me an art treat, that would be delightful!

Feel free to mix-and-match AU freeforms within fandoms. For instance, for Punisher I requested both "Amateur Theatre Group" and "Post-Apocalypse." So, for that fandom a Station Eleven-esque post-apocalyptic theatre group would be fine.

Two funny and sweet Stranger Things stories in which Steve turns into, respectively, a merman and a werewolf: just another Hawkins Monday.

Fish out of Water. Steve & Dustin interaction is always gold but it's especially gold when Steve just want to swim around his pool in peace and Dustin wants to know exactly what fish his tail came from and also how the conservation of mass fits in.

Full Moon Nights.

"Steve's a werewolf?!"

Nancy craned at the window. "Apparently."

"Dude," Will said. "Dustin is gonna be so jealous."

Garden View. A Guardians of the Galaxy story in which some of the characters have different backstories, from Rocket's pitch-perfect POV. Funny on top, sad underneath, with great team interactions; it's got a lot going on for a story barely over 1000 words.
