Sweet Charity raised $19,000 to benefit unemployed entertainment industry workers not covered by other benefits. NINETEEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! Woo-hoo!!!!

I eagerly await hearing from the people who won me. ;)

Click on the tag if you don't know what this is about. And yes. That is me with Masi Oka, at a WGA rally.
Sweet Charity, the fandom charity auction, is holding an auction to benefit people who are unemployed due to the writer's strike and ineligible for other help. Bidding is now open!

I have offered fiction and a professional critique for auction, and telephase is offering art.

Support the union! Win lovely art, vids, fiction, professional advice, knit booties, or a mystery bag from Thailand! Don't crush my soul by letting me ho myself out for $1.91!

Here's what I'm offering, under my fan name Edo no Hana:

1. I will write a short story of no less than 1000 words in the fandom of your choice, with the characters, pairing, rating, optional details of your choice-- so long as those also work for me. But except for rape, cross-generational sex, and non-canon incest, I'm pretty flexible.

I am good at working to prompts, but the story has to work for me too; tell me what you'd like, and we'll work something out if your initial idea or pairing doesn't work for me.

You can read my stories at [livejournal.com profile] edonohana, or by searching for Edo no Hana at www.yuletidetreasure.org.

I will write in any fandom I have previously written in. See memories at [livejournal.com profile] edonohana for those.

I am also willing to write in other fandoms that I am familiar with but haven't written in before. See memories here for some of those. If you want a fandom I haven't specifically offered or aren't sure if I'm familiar with, just ask!

2. I will give you a professional manuscript critique/evaluation of a manuscript of no more than 20 pages-- narrative nonfiction, fiction, TV script-- anything but poetry. This may be the first 20 pages of a longer piece.

You mail me a hard copy. I write notes on it, Xerox it, and mail it back. Then we go over it via phone (or email if you're really shy, but phone is better for me.)

I will advise you not only on your writing, but on the business of selling it if you like. You may include a query letter for me to also critique, if you like.

I am a published writer and have done this in workshops. People say I'm honest but not in a mean way. My pro website is at www.rachelmanijabrown.com.
