Thank you for writing for me!

My requests are for fic, but if anyone feels moved to make me an art treat, I would be delighted.

For any prompts where I say it would be OK to mix-and-match the character sets, or if it would make sense to include more characters in your story, feel free to include any characters from any of the fandoms I nominated characters from.

I would be happy with a story of any length, from an epic to 500 words exactly. Of course, as a King fan, I adore long stories. However, some of my favorite exchange stories are extremely short, and that length is especially good for horror. So seriously: anything is fine.

If you'd like to do a crossover that isn't requested, go for it. I'm always happy to see characters or canon from Carrie, Cujo, The Dead Zone, Doctor Sleep (book or movie), Dolores Claiborne, Duma Key, Firestarter, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, the Holly Gibney books (but I haven't read "If It Bleeds" yet), The Institute, It, The Langoliers, Later, Lisey's Story, The Long Walk, Misery, Needful Things, Pet Sematary, Rose Madder, Salem's Lot, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Shining.

General DNWs: Issuefic, real-life terminal illness like cancer (non-realistic stuff like super-soldiers with a limited lifespan is fine), dementia and brain damage, A/B/O, PWP (porn without plot), non-canon human pregnancy and babies or a heavy focus on canon human pregnancy and babies (animal and monster babies are fine), infantilization, radiation sickness, graphic details of dental trauma or digestive upsets, and the gross kinds of bodily waste (blood, sweat, and tears are fine). No literal coronavirus, but other illnesses with similar symptoms and other pandemics are fine.

Please no permanent, within-the-story death of requested characters unless I specifically say it's OK for that canon. (Characters being in Mid-World because they died elsewhere and similar "technically dead but still existing as characters" situations are fine.) For characters who die in canon, foreshadowing their canonical deaths is fine.

Please no on-page or non-canonical adult/child sex. Referencing canon child sexual abuse is fine.

Crossover Fandom

Group: Dolores Claiborne & Jessie Burlingame

Maybe a meeting after the events of both books, when they're both in a better place, whether or not they ever realize how they were connected. Or a meeting more similar to the glimpses in the books, reaching across time and space, but one where they're able to actually communicate or take action or revenge on the other's behalf.

KING CROSSOVER KA-TET.

Do they step through a door or die in their own worlds, or are these Mid-World versions of the same characters? Are they questing for the Tower, or on a completely different mission (to get back home? to change the world?), or trying to escape the entire thing? Are some of them at cross purposes? Are they all gunslingers, or does something else bind them together?

I would also be good with any multiverse version of this (hey, it's Dark Tower, multiverses are canon) with any characters from any book I've read. If you're not sure if I've read a book, please ask a mod.

Character death is fine in this given that it's Mid World.

Group: Dr. Xander Kamen & Dark Tower
Group: Carrie White & Dark Tower

There's something very intriguing to me about a psychiatrist encountering Mid-World, especially since Dr. Kamen is legit good at his job and not a stereotypical "lie down on the couch" type. Again, I would be happy to mix-and-match any of these characters, with each other (Dr. Kamen and Carrie would be amazing) or with the other ka-tets above.

Group: Roland Deschain & Eddie Dean & Susannah Dean & Jake Chambers & Oy & The Stand

This was so close to being canon! Just shift them one dimension over, and there they are. Do they meet any of the other travelers along the road? Does Flagg recognize Roland? Or if you want to go a bit less epic, a little snippet of them raiding a deserted gas station for junk food or having some brief creepy encounter with the aftermath of the plague would be awesome.

Group: Roland Deschain & Holly Gibney

Two obsessive, socially awkward people from different worlds. Him in her world, her in his: your choice. I think Roland would appreciate Holly as she deserves to be appreciated, and her movie-watching would make her see lots of interesting parallels for him. Whether you give them an actual adventure or just a brief meeting, I think they'd be an amazing pair. I was thinking of Holly from the books, but if you prefer Holly from the TV series, that's fine too.

Dark Tower - Stephen King

Canon-specific DNWs: Susannah's pregnancy/baby. Mia. Stephen King as an actual character - I liked the metafictional aspects, that was just one step too far with them for me. Pimples.

Temporary death or "in another world" death is fine for these characters, as is an AU resulting from a death (i.e., Roland dies in Mejis and Susan goes on as a gunslinger) or a tragic ending where it's clear that even everyone dying isn't the end because the wheel always turns.

Group: Margaret Eisenhart & Rosalita Munoz & Susannah Dean & Zalia Jaffords & Sarey Adams

You don't have to include all of them, or focus on all of them equally. Any two (or three, etc) would be fine.

Susannah training with the Sisters, or having an adventure with them; we see her take on them, but what's theirs on her? Do they envy her freedom to leave, or see that they both have burdens? Or leave Susannah out, and show me the Sisters learning to throw the plates (who taught them?) Or explore the tangled feelings of fury and grief and guilt and relief on the day they learned that they had been spared at a sibling's expense.

Group: Roland Deschain & David (Dark Tower)

What if he didn't sacrifice David, or if David survived the duel? Would that early choice have changed Roland's choice to let Jake fall? Or show me a scene from early canon, a boy and his (doomed) hawk.

Talitha Unwin

I love her and I'd like to see more of her. Maybe she meets a different version of the ka-tet on another turn of the wheel, or maybe the Man in Black comes after her, or maybe some refugees make it out of Lud and end up at her village, or maybe she travels with the ka-tet for a little while to show them the way to somewhere or to collect something her village needs.

I love Mid-World, from the creepiness of its mutant albino bees to the sweetness and dignity of the meeting with Talitha Unwin to the eerie reflections of our world in snatches of song and literary references. I also love western tropes: the rival gunmen, the stranger come to town, the corrupt sheriff, the gold rush, lost in the desert.

Gerald's Game - Stephen King

Group: Jessie Burlingame & the former Prince

Shameless fixit prompt! I felt SO BAD for the former Prince. I would like to see him get a happier ending. Might Jessie have tried taming/befriending him? Maybe he defended her from the Space Cowboy? Or jumped into the car with her? Two damaged, wounded souls, wronged by abominable men and trapped in horrible circumstances they didn't deserve - it was so close to becoming a dark "A Girl and Her Dog" story.

Or maybe they both die (it's okay if death is not the end) and go to Mid World, or become avenging spirits who protect women and dogs in danger and/or take revenge on their abusers. If you write the latter, please don't get super-graphic with dog abuse details. Getting super-graphic with them doing terrible things to abusers is totally fine.

The Stand - Stephen King

Feel free to mix-and-match, or include any canon characters, including ones not in the tag set. I like everyone. I'm a multishipper generally so you can sell me on anything, but I especially like F/F for this canon. I have more requests under "Crossover Fandoms."

Canon-specific DNW: I'm OK with canon/requested character deaths and bittersweet endings along the lines of canon - if someone dies, I like the canon sort of "died heroically/not in vain/fulfilling their goals even if their goals were terrible/bonkers (i.e., Trashcan Man)" deaths. Please no endings where someone is left alive but mentally broken, or dies pointlessly. Also, I DNW Dayna's rape gang backstory in the extended edition - I prefer her backstory in the original edition. I'm fine with canon pregnancies but would prefer that not to be the main focus of the story.

Rita Blakemoor

What if different characters survived the flu or its immediate aftermath, whether they add to the canon survivors or take their place. Non-canonical character death for any or all canon characters is fine if you do the latter. Feel free to mix-and-match with any Stand characters, including those who died in the flu or in the immediate aftermath.

I loved Kathy Bates' Rae Flowers from the 90s miniseries so putting her in book canon is an option if you match on Ray. (To be clear: you don't HAVE to do that! Just, if you want to you can.)

One of the reasons the pre-plague and during-plague sections of the book are so memorable is the wealth of vivid supporting and even cameo characters, like Maria the oral hygienist. She's really just there so we can see Larry pointlessly being a dick, but she feels like a real person even though we only get a glimpse of her. You just know that she's on the phone to her girlfriends bitching about Larry as soon as he gets out of her throwing range.

I'd love to see how these characters, who either died during the plague or whose fate we never learned, would do if they survived instead. Would Rita Blakemoor have done better if she'd run into Alice Underwood instead of Larry? How would Ray Flowers bring his dedication to speaking truth to power to a world where literal forces of good and evil are engaged in a giant game of tug-of-war over the remaining human beings? Who would call to Jesse Rider, and who would he follow?

[personal profile] scioscribe has excellent specific prompts for many of these characters if you'd like to use any of hers. She doesn't mind.

The Stand (1994)

Rae Flowers

In the book Ray Flowers is a man, but in the miniseries he became Rae Flowers so he could be played by Kathy Bates. It's a short cameo but she brought an enormous amount of personality and charm to it, before getting killed of course. What if instead of getting shot, she either escaped or got subdued and dragged off, perhaps to the same facility where Stu was held? Would she have ended up with any of the other canon characters, or gone off and done her own thing?

There isn't anyone quite like her in the eventual group of survivors, and I wonder what her "speaking truth to power" attitude would have made of later events. Feel free to use miniseries or book canon, or to mix-and-match. Any of my prompts for Ray Flowers in the book work for Rae.
